Unconfirmed reports have it that Zenith Bank Plc has meted out punishment to one bank official, who was pictured on his knees at Ayo Fayose's residence in Abuja pleading with with the governor over the funding of the 2014 gubernatorial election in Ekiti.
Zenith Bank Plc staff, Bunmi Falana aka Bumshaka, has
been reportedly demoted to a mere marketer by the leadership of the bank over
his culpability in the unpopular saga with the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele
Fayose over allegations of illicit funding.
According to rumours, Falana has also been told to resume
work at a branch in Agbara Lagos immediately. This happened after he was caught
on camera kneeling down to beg Fayose to help conceal his role in the issuance
and management of illicit funds that has attracted the attention of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who have currently frozen the
Governor's personal bank accounts.
Other reports have described Falana as a close associate
of the vocal People's Democratic Party cheiftain who is said to have
facilitated his employment in the bank as well as his undeserved rapid
promotion.
Zenith bank is yet to issue an official statement to
clear the air on the claims that the corporate body solely funded the election
of Fayose which is against the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters
Act.
