Nigeria, a " fantastically corrupt" country - My view & lessons learnt

We have learnt some great lesson from the unguarded remarks made by the  Prime Minister David Cameron describing Nigeria and Afghanistan as " fantastically corrupt" countries.

This unguarded remarks was made while briefing Queen Elizabeth II on the ongoing anti-corruption summit being hosted by the United Kingdom. But while making such a disgusting remark he was interupted by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justing Welby who made a commending remark about President Mohammadu Buhari.

The Arch bishop said "But this particular president is not corrupt... he's trying his best"

Haters of Buhari should not crucify me yet, I am not talking politics, I am just sharing what I learnt which we can all also learn from with an open mind.

A lot of Nigerians are angry about the comment of the Prime Minister.
Surprisingly, some of the corrupt people that had given us such a bad global image are also angry with the comment. But people are not taking note of the remark of the Arch Bishop which is my own interest.

LESSON LEARNT FROM THE ABOVE.

1. If you find yourself in a 'fantastically corrupt' environment, can someone mention your name that  you are different, you are not corrupt, you are trying your best to stop corruption?

2. No matter how much you try to do the right thing, do not expect everyone to praise you. People like Cameron can despise you to impress the Queen or whoever catches their fancy.

3. Wherever you find yourself, do not refrain from saying good things  you know about others, even when the high and mighty are making negative comments, say the good things you know about the person.
The Archbishop can decide to wait till Sunday to make the good remarks in the comfort zone of his church but Cameron would have made more damaging remarks if not interrupted by the Archbishop.

When President Buhari was asked if he will be demanding for an apology from the British PM. He said "I am not going to demand an apology from anyone. What I'll demand is a return of assets."

4. Don't be distracted with negative comments. If your eye (your focus) is sound, your entire body will be full of light. The president's focus is the recovery of stolen money and he will not allow the unguarded remarks of Cameron to distract him. (Remain focused no matter what)

David Cameron later said Nigeria and Afghanistan had taken
"remarkable steps forward" on corruption. He said this while briefing members of parliament in the house of commons.

On Tuesday he said: Nigeria is "Fantastically Corrupt" and on Wednesday he said:
Nigeria is making "remarkable steps forward."

5. If you can be patient, you will see those condemning you today will start singing your praise tomorrow. It's just amatter of time!

6. Don't run others down because you want to be seen as intelligent or holy.

7. Think before you talk. Don't allow your mouth to run people down when you know in your heart that they are making remarkable efforts.
