A
chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State, Chief Ayo
Akande, has said Nigerians are impatient and lack understanding on why the
Federal Government increased the price of fuel.
In a statement released on
Sunday, he urged Nigerians to be patient and cooperate with the Government
saying things will be fine in no time. He also urged Labour to cancel their
proposed strike saying it wasn't necessary. Part of his statement reads;
“President
Buhari means well for Nigeria. All we
need to do as citizens is to cooperate with the government, support him with
prayers and exercise patience. On the fuel price hike, I believe Nigerians are
impatient and lack the understanding of the whole issue. This thing should have
been done two years ago.
“We
should have deregulated the downstream oil sector a long time ago. Very soon,
Nigerians will begin to see the effect of that decision. The price would have
gone down. The queues would totally disappear and Nigerians would live
comfortably. I am very sure that by June 2017, the stability that the
government wants would have been achieved.”
