Shiite youths take to the streets of Kano again to protest long detention of leader

Hundreds of Shiite youths stormed Kano State today and spent four hours protesting the continuing detention of their leader, Shiekh Zakzaky.

The youths, including young women wearing black attires with some dressed in more Western clothing, took to the streets of Kano protesting the killings and detention of the Shiites by the authorities.


The leader of the protesting Shiite youths, Malam Mansur Ukashatu, said they have decided to protest over the inability of the Federal Government to release their leader. The protesters began their march at Fagge mosque and walked down Zaria road, the march concluded peacefully at the Dangi Junction roundabout before they departed to their various homes.
