Apart from the Olamide rant and impending BEEF that’s just been created between YBNL and Mavin, many other things went wrong at the award that are totally unforgivable and some already taking its toll on the organisers.
1. The late start up. This has taken its toll on the organisers since the second edition of the award show, now making it a tradition.
2. After a delayed start up, Pepenazi and Ycee were both made to perform their hit songs to an almost empty hall, thereby trying to use them to control the crowd outside the event hall to come in. Unfortunately, the plan didn’t work out which brought the hall back to its former silence, leaving viewers at home very bored. Comedian Basketmouth later showed up on stage in a bid to help out the situation by cracking jokes only him was laughing to at some point. The DJ ushered the comedian out as if a more serious thing was going to begin but Instead Maggi adverts on the screens seem to be the serious deal to entertain the few crowd which were mainly crew members.
3. Ushers And Protocols Out of control. The red carpet session, though beautiful looking, lasted over 4 hours like it was the main ball of the event. The ushers and models couldn’t help control the situation. The organisers had to put off the light but still it helped lesser than expected.
4. The organisers made a blunder with the very first award when the award presenters were sent on stage to present the award for Best Street Hop category, only for them to realize that they had the winning script for Best Pop Single.
5. At 12:28am after Vector won the Best Rap single, the stage was left empty for 6 minutes till 2face Idibia came on stage to receive his Hall of Fame Award. Also at this time, Ben Bruce had no award to present to 2face. Seemed the organisers were not up wanting of ideas and coordination.
6. All through the night, several technical issues and prolonged stage interludes came close to embarrassing the award like when MI Abaga was on stage, after Timi Dakolo won Revelation of the year.
7. Bovi, the host made a non-deliberate light of Steve Harvey’s blunder at the Miss Universe pageant last year. The comedian said he might have made a mistake stating that he said “Reekado Blanks and not “Reekado Banks”
The Last performing artiste performed back stage while Ycee yet again received his Rookie of the year award before empty seats in same manner he opened the show.
Hopefully, by the next edition of the award ceremony, we will have a hitch-free event and all these avoidable errors will be a thing of the past.
