Biafra leader, Kanu’s wife delivers baby boy

Uchechi Okwu Kanu, wife of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has given birth to a baby boy.

The news first broke out on social media with a post on Facebook:  “Good morning, great Biafrans. With joy in our hearts and celebration of a new arrival to the IPOB family, our first lady, wife of our eminent leader, Joshua Nnamdi Kanu has delivered a healthy baby boy. Mother and child are in good health.”

Kanu’s family later confirmed baby’s arrival.

Speaking to Naij.com, Kanu’s brother, Prince Kanu said Uchechi delivered in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Last October, the Department of State Security (DSS) took Kanu to court where he was admitted to bail.  Regardless, he remains in DSS custody despite meeting all bail conditions.

Thereafter, he refused to take a plea in court where he protested his trial before Justice Mohammed Ahmed of a Federal High Court in Abuja. Kanu’s wife defended his struggle for Biafra independence and argued that pro-Biafrans have the right to self-determination.
