Prof. Wole Soyinka and Patience Jonathan Stones of Words

I have read responses from people spiritedly opposing Patience's response to Wole Soyinka, calling him an embarrassment to those who cherish him.

For instance " Japhet Omojuwa" said she must have thought embarrassment is just a big word in the dictionary, which is used to greet someone. To me, we must admit that Patience is our first lady and much respects must sometimes, if not always, be given to her. While we may profusely be angered by her vituperations most times, we must not loose our moral skull in the theatre of our agitation. Patience only said what she felt and thought was right, we can only respond with balanced and upright statement, analyzing why she must accept Soyinka's critical expression of her and why she must desist from assuming that we are ignorant of how our political system operates.

However, we must all realize the Prof. Wole Soyinka who clocks 79 years old today is a social critic and his professional work is to expose various areas of the economy or body polity to substantive criticism in-order for our leaders or those who are directly and practically concerned to take their own doses of the pill. When a social critic talks in the right sense, it is for the development of the State.

For goodness sake, who else needs anyone to tell him that there was a federal insight in the shameful act which was orchestrated at the Rivers State parliament some days ago? Of course, Patience Jonathan may pretend not to be directly involved, but she can't lay claim to being ignoramus of the plan. Even, her husband and president can't.

The Nigerian- state is a complex state and any one who wants to argue any subject in defense of anything must be totally careful. Let us not descend to insult or name-calling. He who wants to change a system must present something different from the old-existing order or scheme. When you now descend to insult, you are more or less not different from the bad eggs you are criticizing.
